In Lecture eight of our course “Road Safety at Work: Online Course for Managers” Mark Sullman former Senior Lecturer, Cranfield University teaches the process of monitoring and evaluation for fleet management.
This process is tremendously important because without it an organisation cannot know what they are doing right and what they need to work on improving. Monitoring is vital in showcasing the state of safety in an organisation. Monitoring and evaluation is the way to make decisions on future improvements.
While this lecture doesn’t cover the types of interventions that you might want to implement in your organisation; you will learn the various indicators of safety such as collision information, safety behaviours and safety climate. You will also learn the need of high quality, highly accurate data which is representative of the organisation. The stage of evaluation. Have you met your goals or is a different approach needed? This is where future planning for change in fleet management happens.
